    Martin 4-4 5 String
    Double Bass

This Thomas Martin bass dated 2000 is definitely one of the finest Tom ever made. Basses by Tom are increasingly sought after and collected. It has five strings and was played in a major European Orchestra for all its life. It was thankfully well appreciated and beautifully looked after by its owner who has sadly died. Great sound and response over the five strings. The wood is the best Tom had with beautifully flamed maple in the flat back and ribs and fine hazel figure in the table. All the details ie the arch of the table, the fluting down the sound holes, the edge work on the front, and the beautifully carved and elegant scroll exemplify Tom’s finest work. A real working player’s instrument and a work of art.
