John Frederick Lott I Double Bass

We are proud to present this stunning middle period John Frederick Lott I double bass made in London around 1835. The back is made of high quality English maple, while the ribs and scroll are made from Pear wood. In this period of making Lott paired highly figured veneer ribs with English maple backs making for amazing mis matches of wood. The well matched front dates from around 1860 and was made in London by Charles Theress, presumably due to the original being damaged. The head is a particularly fine example of Lott's work. This double bass is truly magnificent tonally and has looks to match.
