This instrument is fashioned after the Cremonese double bass by Nicola Bergonzi made around 1780 that Thomas Martin used for most of his solo career and recordings. The size is compact and playable yet produces a disproportionally large, rich sound. This is an excellent solo double bass though is equally at home in the orchestra.
The Martin Bergonzi double bass is available in both four- and five-string versions. A specific string length and other special requests can easily be accommodated. If you want any further information or would like to place an order, please do get in touch.
